I gave this book 5* because it was a book that was impossible for me to put down once I started reading it. Williams mixes her ever increasing job duties with vivid and often humorous descriptions of her co-workers and the easy camaraderie found in the mortuary. She at times gets descriptive regarding difficult or unique situatons and challenges encountered on the job. Sometimes it gets gross, but the visions she conjures up are bearable and fairly clinical.
As the author is british, she uses plenty of slang which may not be familiar to american readers. Surprisingly, this is very easy to get used and refreshing because she is so frank and realistic regarding her chosen profession and the things she encounters on a daily basis.
Overall, this is a great book as it provides a unique perspective on death from the eyes of someone who faces it on a daily basis.
